Seaside Screamer III Contest - Winner Announced & Writeups Cancelled
Contests

Happy New Year NLC!

Since its new years day, I have decided to release the contest template one day early! (Deadline will still be February 2nd). But first, some quick tips for your rides

Base Frame Supports

Some of you might be curious what we are talking about, and might even be a little confused as to what you should be doing. If thats the case, I have some examples of the sort of thing we are looking for

A perfect example is the style used on hydrus at casino pier. Please note how none of the supports are going on their own single base frame, and usually share the same frame as a couple others as well to make it more strengthened. If you are still a little confused, here is an example in NoLimits 2 itself thanks to Element115

Another style you can use is how schwarzkopfs are usually set up, which is just one large frame instead of a few smaller ones that only hold two or three support connections like the ones on hydrus

Hopefully that gives people a better understanding for what is required for the contest

Wooden Coaster Supports

For those who will be brave enough to attempt a wooden coaster, the supports must NOT come in contact with the pathways in the park, and can only touch the ground in:

  • the start area
  • the orange wireframe in the park area
  • on the pier area (Base Frame supports are still required)

Here is a quick example of what I am talking about

Oh, and one other thing

DO NOT PLACE SUPPORT FOOTERS ON PRE EXISTING FLAT RIDE'S OR BUILDINGS IN THE AREA

It should be fairly obvious, but I know there are a few of you that like bending the rules of the contest, so I had to make it clear

What the Judges will look for in your entries

  • Forces: The coaster must be safe for riders, and we would highly recommend checking out the post amatsuNL made Here

  • Use Of Template: Its easy to just build a simple out and back coaster, but to make your entry stand out go out of your way to create something unique to the setting, and utilises the template's restrictions incredibly well to create something amazing

  • Supports: The ride needs to look like it can actually stand up if it was built, and wont just fall over if someone breathes on the ride. Also if you are going for a manufacturer specific style, bonus "points" will be added for people who make them look as accurate to that manufacturer's style as possible

  • Realism: Bit of a broad term here, but for example we will be checking to make sure the ride car's dont intersect with themselves or the track, ride clearance, and also if the ride is designed to be like a specific manufacturer's style then making it as close to that style as possible will put you out ahead of the other entries

Please Note

custom 3d work and stuff added into the park wont add to your score, but if you go out of your way to create a custom station for your ride and put some of the NL2 scenery pieces down to make the start area look a little better it will be acknowledged in the writeups

The Templates

This year there are two templates, one is the full park and the other is a much more optimised version designed for people to use if their computer isnt the best. If you do use the "lite" version of the template please make sure you import your ride into the main template for submission

Each wireframe outline has been given a basic description if you get confused as to what they mean, and the park description also has a basic guide

Have Fun! If you need any assistance or are having any issues then either PM me on the NLC messaging system or comment on the thread

On Topic

Hi all,

so there was about ~5 minutes of downtime, I want to explain that really quick and talk a little bit about future development plans, etc.

Basically the downtime came from an error that I had pushed up while trying to get things ready for the toolbox feature (something that will be above the comment field so you can easily add markdown to your posts without having to memorize stuff, although honestly I don't think it's that much to memorize). I've talked about this before on NLE about one or two years ago, and it still holds true today, the way you manipulate text on websites for fields is terrible. Because of this, the toolbox feature will be at the bottom of the feature list for NLC, which is unfortunate, but the time it would take for me to get that up, vs the time it would take to get other features / improvements done makes it not worth it. As the current list I have gets smaller and this thread becomes less active, I'll start the toolbox feature, but right now it simply isn't worth it.

The Official Scripting Ask Thread
Scripting

When a script controls some property of an nl2sco (In my case: Entity color), does the script have to be in the same folder as the model? I'm trying to use bestdani's effect set for that tunnel problem with my models, but the model, just like the materials and textures, aren't in the same folder as the script the effect set needs.

Welcome back to the community. Just don't piss off people this time and you shouldn't any problems.

Those old days are long gone. Track retextures are nonexistent for NoLimits or Planet Coaster, with the first option which I know of can be only done with 3ds tracks

Theme Park Discussion

Here's some pics I took today of Blackpool Pleasure Beach's new for 2018 Mack Mega, Icon. The first picture shows the constructed Immelmann, and the next two show the track in the car park. Someone with more time and a better attention span than me can probably tell you what bit of track corresponds to which part of the layout, but I can definitely see some launch track there (the straight and thick spine section).

Wow! Many of you have commented, I will not be able to answer all of you, I understand English very badly, I have to translate your sentences to understand. As you may have guessed the roller coaster is not finished, it all starts just ... the landscape is the same, as well as 3D.

For the steel brackets I just put "C beam" it's a long time to do, but it's pretty after once finished! I saw that a person told me that I did not have the right "crosses" even though it is identical to the real one, I respected the height, the length is the speed it is identical.

This is not my first roller coaster on No limits 2, it is myself who made the 2 roller coaster Vekoma MK1101 appeared on the old forum is full of other on Youtube.

Here are more pictures of the day's progress.

So much for today, Ps: there is my youtube channel in my profile to see my old Roller coaster.
