NL2 Questions
NoLimits Coaster

MrRC posted on February 10th, 2022

When u download for your park, its an *.NL2PKG file.
U place it in the main directory where all your other parks are located.

Go in the EDITOR > Open file.

When that *.NL2PKG file is completely loaded and error free.

Go in the EDITOR > Extract Package > Hopefully its not Password protected.

Don't forget to save it if u change something.

Then u can look into the park what u need and copy it to your park.

But if u looking for MK1101 there is a download link

He's most likely on about mods, which are not the same as custom objects.

For mod files, you need to put them in the following path:
Install Directory\data

and make sure the names are arranged underneath the files already in the folder.

Ok, sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I have downloaded the Vekoma MK1101 coaster type.

For the new coaster type to show up in the list of available coaster types, where do I put the mod file?
Also for scenery, where do those mod files go?

Thanks

G force question.

Also if you hover over the g-force comb with your cursor, at the bottom the screen there should be readings of g-force. These aren't always 100% accurate, but they still usually give a good idea of the forces (check the simulation once in a while though, often things like airtime are actually more extreme than what the comb tells you)

In the editor, near the top between the Display button and the FOV toggle is a drop-down menu. While your coaster is not frozen, select "G-Force Comb." That gives you a rough idea of the G's throughout the coaster.

G force question.

Hey yall, Im rather new to the software and wanna know if it is possible to find g force calculations while in editor mode to get a better look at how certian shapes and bends in the track impact the G load on the coaster. Since 1. using F2 is pretty hard to pin point over the entire ride and 2. switching from play mode and editor mode is very tedious and time consuming. Is their anything that allows you to see calculations like this in the editor as you edit bends?

Importing a custom 3D model

^ Well yes, you can increase the number of faces in your curved/round object to make it look smoother when working from sketchup, but adding more faces & edges also increases the detail. And personally, i try to keep things to a lower poly count when making scenery for a ride, to try and keep my models lag free for as many people as possible. Blender lets you smooth any sharp edges you want to, and make a lower poly object look nice.
That's just my experience when using sketchup. I'll smooth the edges of something curved i've made in Blender, then when i texture it in sketchup and export the file, it looks rough and you can see all the sharp edges when it's imported to NL2.

With Blender, you need to use UV mapping to add textures & graphics to your model. It's not the easiest thing to learn, and can be frustrating at times. But the end result will look better when done right. Alternatively, you could use a texture painting program to texture your model, or use Sketchup, as it features a fairly simple texturing method. But both those will cost you money, and Sketchup doesn't let you export a model with any sort of smoothing applied to sharp edges. So curved and rounded things look horrible in NL2. Blender is free to d'load and use.
