The ride would be announced on august 16th 2004 for a spring 2005 opening however construction delays would delay the ride to a mid summer 2005 opening. The ride would be overshadowed by kingda ka (RIP) which would open the same year, but most enthusiasts prefer slingshot boomerang because of its powerful airtime and its unique layout.

There have been rumors lately that the ride will be getting new trains and LSMs from intamin or zamperla but the park has not confirmed as of yet if this will ever happen.
