PLEASE RENAME THE CONTEST FILE WITH YOUR COASTER'S NAME AND YOUR NAME!!!

PLEASE DO NOT PACKAGE YOUR COASTER. All we need is the NL2PARK file - we have everything else already. This saves us time. Thanks!

Late submissions will be disqualified at judge's discretion.

The Challenge: Add rides and build a coaster on a pier.

Park management decided to build a bridge connecting two parts of the park together. If you're going to build a bridge, why not make it a big pier and add rides and a new coaster? Your job is to build 1 coaster and add as many of the 11 contest rides as you like, but don't make things too crowded or you won't have room to build!

Flat Ride Point Values:

Each of the available flat rides are worth a set amount of points which will be added to your score if they are successfully included in your pier. Ride shells are included in the park package file. Points are awarded as follows:

Teacups - 1

Scrambler - 1

Drop Tower - 1

Wave Swinger - 2

Paratrooper - 2

Troika - 2

Swing Around - 3

Frisbee - 3

Tourbillon - 3

Skyscraper - 4

Sky Wheel - 5

Ride shells have been included to make it easy to judge clearance between rides and the coaster. Place these ride shells where you want the flat rides. Note that an arrow has been added to all shells to indicate the location of entrances/exits/orientation of the ride.

You can include as many rides as you wish. It is not necessary to use all 11 rides, and may be quite impossible to include all 11 and make a great coaster. Choose your rides wisely, as rides that are worth more points take up a lot more space.

Primary rules:

  • Build one full circuit (non-shuttle and non-spike) coaster of any steel coaster style.
  • RMC and Wooden coaster styles using auto-support builder are not allowed.
  • The coaster must be built primarily over the pier. Track and supports may go over the edge of the pier, but all footers must stay inside the pier and not be seen outside. Station and stairs may not go over the edge of the pier.
  • All flat rides must be fully supported by the pier. They may lean over the edge while in operation, but the main part of the ride must rest on the pier. (The pier is at 1m height)
  • No coasters or rides may go below water level.
  • No part of the coaster, track, footers, supports, train, or station may touch the water.
  • No restrictions on lifts, launches, or inversions.
  • Adequate storage for all trains is required.
  • Adequate clearance must be maintained at all times.
  • Coaster must run minimum 3 trains.

Boundary rules:

  • The coaster station and footers must be completely on the pier.
  • The coaster track, trains, and supports may reach out over the water.
  • No footer may be visible - all must be under the pier.
  • Rides must have their platforms and footers on the pier.
  • Rides may extend beyond the pier while in operation.

Support Structure Rules:

  • Support structure must look sufficient to handle the speed and direction of the forces throughout the ride.
  • Supports and footers must not touch the water. Footers must be covered by the pier.
  • Auto wooden or RMC supports are not allowed. Prefabs are allowed.
  • Adequate clearance must be maintained throughout the entire ride.

Time Rules:

  • The 5 hour build period begins on July 28, 2022 at 4:00 PM GMT when the contest park is available for download.
  • You must build one coaster in the provided contest map.
  • You will have until 9:00 PM GMT (5 hours total) to upload your finished park to a file exchange/download/FTP site and fill out the official entry form with the download information, coaster names, your name, and your email address. Allow yourself spare time to upload your coaster and fill out this form.

Other Rules:

  • NO custom or pre-packaged scripts can be used on your coaster. Just keep it simple.
  • Any submission not using the template and/or submissions built prior to the contest will be disqualified.
  • You can only use NoLimits 2 and entities packaged with it - no custom 3D scenery, environments, or car textures.
  • You may use FVD++.
  • You may add scenery beyond the flat rides, however all non ride scenery will be hidden and will not be judged as part of your coaster experience.
  • One entry per person. If you upload more than one entry, we will only consider the last one entered.
  • Please include your name and coaster name in the file name submission.

Judging criteria:

Judges will rate all successful entries in the following four categories, each on a 0 to 10 scale.

Realism - Forces, track shaping, coaster operations.

Supports - Support adequacy, clearance, design, density.

Creativity - Uniqueness of coaster selection/style, difficulty of style choice, interaction with rides, ride placement.

Fun - Pacing, creativity, variety, flow.

Rides - points added for each ride. (rides may only be placed and counted once)

Penalties:

Minor footer infraction: -1 point per footer for each partially visible footer

Major footer infraction: -3 points per fully exposed footer

Minor clearance envelope coaster infraction (track/supports/train/station): -2 points each

Major clearance envelope coaster infraction/collision (track/supports/train/station): -5 points each

Ride cannot complete a full circuit: -8 points

Every ride that is included in your pier will earn points based on the scale above. Hitting the ride shell will incur a penalty:

Minor shell infraction (slightly in the ride area): 0 points for that ride

Major shell infraction (grossly in the ride area, collision with ride): the point value of the ride will be subtracted from your score

Teacups - 1

Scrambler - 1

Drop Tower - 1

Wave Swinger - 2

Paratrooper - 2

Troika - 2

Swing Around - 3

Frisbee - 3

Tourbillon - 3

Skyscraper - 4

Sky Wheel - 5

All coasters will receive written feedback and will be scored with penalties assessed.
