Olympia Looping - Extended Version

play_circle_filled

Olympia Looping, also known as Munich Looping, is a portable steel roller coaster owned and operated by R. Barth und Sohn Schaustellerbetriebe KG. The ride was designed by Anton Schwarzkopf and Werner Stengel, and built by BHS. It is the largest portable roller coaster in the world, and the only one with five inversions. It appears at many carnivals in Germany, most notably Oktoberfest, where it made its debut in 1989. (Wikipedia)

This NoLimits design is of an extension that was proposed for Olympia Looping some years ago. There exists one single picture of a scale model of it, which is what I used to create this. In real life, the extension never came to be and not much is publicly known about it.

Height 131 ft/40 m
Length 5242 ft/1597 m
Speed 55 mph/88 km/h
Capacity 2,632 riders per hour

Originally when I made this design, I had it running 6 trains. However, due to the blocks limiting how fast a train can dispatch, the 6th train added no additional capacity and would cause stacking. Additionally, there was not enough room to stack 6 trains with one in the station and the rest on the reduction, transfer, and waiting brakes. So if operation stopped for any reason, the 6th train would stop on the final block brake instead of the reduction (main) brake.

The final helix was also removed in order to fit supports for the cobra roll.

Incredibly well done! I've always found the extended Olympia project to be super fascinating, so it's intriguing to see how the extended Olympia project would operate. The supports and scenery on this is very realistic and well done too. Overall, this is an excellent project!
